This Bitter Earth by Harrison David Rivers - 2m
A deep love is challenged by divisive political realities. Jesse, an introspective black playwright, finds his choices called into question when his boyfriend, Neil, a white Black Lives Matter activist, calls him out for his political apathy. As passions and priorities collide, this couple is forced to reckon with issues of race, class and the bravery it takes to love out loud.

This Bitter Earth is a two-person mixed race, gay play dealing with their relationship during a time of police shootings and marches. Very dependent on the director and casting. It has multiple scene changes - even if done with a minimal set could be a problem - also calls for nudity. I don't think it warrants us making it an exception to our no two person show policy. No for me.
I agree with Howard that this one does not seem to me worthy of overruling our "no two-person shows" policy. I enjoyed it to a certain point but I felt that there were some issues that made it less than satisfying. There is a current production in Soho in London, which has received mixed reviews, and appears to be more of a pet project for the director. The only other production I could find a record of online was at Penumbra in 2018. Since no other theaters have wanted to produce it makes me wonder if that isn't a comment on its viability. So, it's a no for me.
I agree with the above comments.
I enjoyed this play a lot, but see the merit in the above comments.
I like the script but am curious... have there been exceptions to the two-person policy in the past? If not, then I think we should remove this from consideration. If exceptions have been made before, why? and was the outcome (audience interest/ ticket sales) worth it?
