One set, familiar characters exchanging familiar repartee. Although, in 1897 the word 'marginalized' would not be used.
Really like how the bomb is made from food. Although there is a lot of food in this play, with all the twists, it is more fun than Elusive Ear. It does start to drag some in the second act with too much attempt to be comical.
With some tightening up, Souffle is a yes for me.
please see my comment for Elusive Ear - same issue for both.
additional comment:
While reading Fallen Souffle I was reminded of the TV show School of Chocolate. Then I saw episode 3, Make it Ooze. The chef instructor had made a candle, complete with a wick that he lit. The candle and the candle holder all were made out of chocolate. Fallen Souffle, I thought to myself.
The student contestants were given the task to create an object that told a story and when you cut into it, something oozed out. One of the contestants made a moon from the book, The Little Prince. Ah, another one of our plays.
Fallen Souffle presents an opportunity to work with one of the local culinary schools, for example, St. Paul College.
It's not the typical Sherlock. I think it is better titled "Marie Chartier and the Case of the Fallen Souffle". I don't feel strongly about the show. It is a possibility, but no for this year.
Please see my comments on "Elusive Ear."
