Jeeves at Sea by Raether - 2 f, 4 m

Set sail for laughter as Bertie Wooster revels in life aboard the Vanderley yacht. Bertie is the pampered guest of the lively Lady Stella (very fetching profile), accompanied, as always, by his peerless valet, Jeeves. If only Bertie's pal Crumpet hadn't assaulted a prince. In the blink of an eye, Bertie is masquerading as a romance novelist, Crumpet's posing as his own long-lost twin, and a sinister foreign count is challenging Bertie to a duel. Will this madcap case of mistaken identities end in Bertie's doom--or worse, his marriage? Have no fear; Jeeves will sort it all out.

Having the history we have with these plays, this is a natural. Loved it before, love it now.

haven't read it but season planning previously thought it worth a place in the season in 2020 and I know historically the Jeeves plays have done well for TRP in the summer slot.

I love this, too, and I vote yes. I have a major concern, however, if Dann Peterson directs it as he has all of the other Jeeves. He does a marvelous job, but he would want to precast some of his actors who have been in previous performances.

Again, another one we loved and scheduled, and I would like to see us return to the popular Jeeves programming. I agree with Jean's comments, however, about Dann's history of pre-casting Jeeves and Bertie. We need to be ever mindful of fairness in casting and giving all actors an opportunity to genuinely compete for a role in which they are interested.

Scheduled but not produced.
Yes, vote for me, again.

Jeeves has done well for us, and I would like to see it done. As others have stated, I am also concerned about pre-casting. I vote yes.

I agree that Jeeves has done well for us in the summer slot, but also know the issue that Jean and Kristen mentioned (and been affected by it personally). I also think that the pandemic is allowing us a "reset." If we take it on, I would like to examine a change in the production team. I think as it stands it feeds into the image that we just keep casting the same people and that we are not the "community" entity that we are striving to be.

Comment from Reading for S72.
Funny fluff. I know the past Jeeves shows did well, but I am reading so many great scripts, I'm not convinced that we need to have more than one adaptation of a prolific 20th Century British Author in a season (Agatha Christie being the other). But I could be convinced, since it is a solid adaptation and strong comedy.

It seems humorous so far - but these plays are not my cup of tea. I am having trouble getting through it and haven't finished it yet. I would generally not go see a play called "Jeeves at [fill in the blank]" on purpose unless I had friends working on it and wanted to be supportive.

It’s a standard farce. This is a classic example of a comedy where the witty servant outsmarts the farcical situation and saves the day. It doesn’t have anything new to share. But it will be a crowd-pleaser.

I'm not happy about the women/men ratio (five men and two women). If we want to do a standard farce, why don't we find one with at least the same number of women as men?
